1 〔事前の通告〕 notice; (a) notification; (a) warning; 〔了解〕 permission; leave; consent.

●自分の金を使うのにだれに断りがいるものか. Do I [Why should I] have to ask (anyone) for permission to use my own money?

●断りもなく 〔(事前)通告なしに〕 without (previous) notice; without warning; without notification (in advance); 〔了解なしに〕 without leave [permission].

・彼女は司会者に一言の断りもなく退席した. She left her seat without giving one word of warning to the chairperson.

●事前にひとこと断りを入れておいたほうがいいよ. You'd better let them know in advance [say something beforehand].
